About Tremulous

Tremulous began as a Quake III Arena mod and was released as a free, standalone game in 2006 by Dark Legion Development. Two teams fight to wipe out each other's base: humans build reactors, turrets and spawn nodes and buy rifles, armour and jetpacks at the armoury, while aliens grow eggs around their Overmind and evolve from tiny wall-crawling biters into huge tyrants as they earn kills. The mix of first-person shooting and base building made it a cult classic, and the community group GrangerHub has kept it alive since.

Tremulous in the browser

This unofficial web edition was ported by Justin Luong (greekman99) and Auriga and is hosted by WebNova360, which runs two browser-only servers: Overmind Arena (20 vs 20 on ATCS) and Reactor Skirmish (10 vs 10 on Niveus, 25-minute rounds). AI players fill empty slots, so a match is always available. It is free, with no ads and no account; the first start downloads about 250 MB, and phones and tablets get on-screen thumb controls. Players on the original desktop game cannot join these servers.

How to play Tremulous online

  1. Use a desktop browser (Chrome or Edge works best).
  2. Click “Play now”. The game opens in a new tab on the original project's site.
  3. Wait for the first load; big games can download hundreds of MB.
  4. Click inside the game to capture the mouse. Press Esc to release it.

⚠ Never download a launcher or .exe from a browser game page.

Tips for Tremulous

  • Protect your core building first: humans lose spawns without the Reactor, aliens without the Overmind.
  • As an alien, earn kills to evolve; the small Dretch can climb walls and ceilings for ambushes.
  • As a human, spend credits at the armoury on better guns and armour before pushing the alien base.
  • On a phone, turn it sideways and add the page to your home screen for full screen.
